Latvian Countryside Stroll

Every time I return to Latvia, something inside me slows down almost immediately.

Perhaps it is the air. Perhaps the forests. Or perhaps simply the familiarity of landscapes that quietly shaped you long before you realised it.

Some of my favourite memories there are the simplest ones: long walks through the countryside with family and close friends, conversations unfolding slowly between trees, gathering around tables after hours spent outdoors, returning home with muddy shoes and cold hands after wandering longer than intended.

During one of these visits, we spent time walking through Ķemeri National Park, a place filled with stillness, marshlands, pine forests, wooden pathways disappearing into fog, and the kind of quiet that feels increasingly rare today.

The Latvian countryside carries a very particular beauty.

Nothing overly dramatic. Nothing demanding attention.

Just endless nature, soft light filtering through trees, the smell of moss and wood, lakes reflecting grey skies, and long stretches where the only sound is footsteps beside the people you love.

As I grow older, I realise how much these moments matter.

Not the grand occasions, but the ordinary rituals repeated over time: walking together, sharing food afterwards, hearing family stories you’ve somehow heard dozens of times before, watching generations exist side by side within the same landscape.

There is a certain emotional comfort that only exists around family and childhood places. A feeling difficult to explain, yet immediately recognisable once you return to it.

Perhaps that connection to home, slowness, and nature has shaped Tom Àdam more than I initially understood.

The pieces we create are often inspired by exactly these kinds of moments, clothing intended not only for interiors, but for living gently within the world around us. For countryside mornings, slow evenings, road trips back home, and walks that begin without destination.
