These Lounge Shorts are made out of TENCEL™. We consider TENCEL™ to be the ultimate fibre for fabrics—a true game-changer. Developed by the Austrian company Lenzing, TENCEL™ Lyocell is a regenerated cellulose fibre with characteristics nearly indistinguishable from cotton. A proud member of the Rayon family, it’s crafted from renewable wood sources.
TENCEL™ is primarily derived from eucalyptus plantations, where trees grow rapidly and densely on low-grade land. Remarkably, just half an acre is sufficient to produce one tonne of TENCEL™ fibre, whereas cotton requires at least five times the land—and of far superior quality. What’s more, TENCEL™ cultivation avoids the need for harmful pesticides or insecticides, unlike its more demanding and less eco-friendly cousin, cotton.
Although eucalyptus trees thrive without irrigation, water is still required during the processing of wood pulp into TENCEL™ fibre. However, the water footprint is 65% lower than that of conventional cotton—a significant reduction.
The innovation doesn’t end there. TENCEL™ production employs a closed-loop system, where over 99% of the non-toxic solvent is recovered and reused, preventing it from being discharged as wastewater.
The fabric is also naturally thermoregulating and highly breathable, making it an ideal choice for staying comfortable, whether you're enjoying a restful night’s sleep or simply lounging at home.
But don’t simply take our word for it: TENCEL™ fibres hold the prestigious Oeko-Tex 100 certification and the European Eco-label, attesting to their low chemical content and eco-conscious manufacturing.
